Sonam Kapoor Ahuja is on cloud nine after the success of her last film Veere Di Wedding not to say that she is enjoying marital bliss after her wedding with businessman Anand Ahuja. However, that has not deterred the actress from fulfilling her work commitments. She has been actively promoting her forthcoming film Sanju opposite Ranbir Kapoor which is a biopic on Sanjay Dutt’s life. Sonam plays a pivotal role in the film. In a recent media interaction, the actress revealed that she has her eyes set on turning director in the near future.
We had previously reported that the actress had revealed that she would love to direct a film someday. Apparently, the Neerja actress has written quite a few stories with her friend fellow-actress Swara Bhasker in the lead. She said that it is easy for her to see Swara in the lead as they interact so much with each other. Sonam also revealed to a leading daily that her directors, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aanand L Rai, R Balki or Ram Madhvani have encouraged her to take up direction in the near future. However, Sonam added that she will take two or three years to wrap up her current projects and then turn to direction.

Sonam said, “I have found a couple of scripts. They are mostly ready, but it will still take a little time to work on and finalize them. I think I am going to do something about direction in a year or two.” She further added, “One half of 2018 is already over. That's why I feel it should happen in another one-and-a-half to two years. I intend to continue acting and direct as well -- not in the same film, but at the same time. So let's see how things go.”
Meanwhile, other than Sanju, Sonam will be seen sharing screen space with dad Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. She will also be seen in the film The Zoya Factor which is based on the book written by Anuja Chauhan of the same name. She will be paired opposite Dulquer Salmaan in the film.
