The teaser of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is here and it charms. We are treated to some romantic shots from Anil Kapoor's 1942: A Love Story, as a blurb informs us “1942: A simple love story”. Years pass in a whirr and now the announcement is made:”2018: A syaapa love story.” Nothing remains ‘simple’ anymore!

“On the path to true love there are always complications. After all, where’s the magic in a simple love story?” asks Sonam, as she stands facing her garden. The scene moves to a bearded and grey Anil Kapoor dancing vigorously at a gathering with his pretty daughter Sonam, and other relatives. You see the connection between Anil and Juhi, the sparks between Sonam and Rajkummar Rao, and much happy revelry, which soon fades…

The mood becomes sombre as a challenge comes the family’s way. Sonam will have a complicated love story after all… Directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar, the film apparently tells the story of an unhappily married woman who discovers her father's infidelity with her co-worker.

Besides being the title of the film, the iconic song ‘Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga…’ from Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1942: A Love Story is also recreated for the film. Director Shelly had shared, “Yes, we are recreating the original and we want to replicate its iconic status. It's hard to beat the original so I will be happy if we are at par with it. However, we'll have to wait and see who sings the new version and for whom in the film.”

The film sees Sonam and dad Anil sharing screen space together for the first time. Earlier, commenting on their first onscreen venture, Sonam had tweeted, “Looking forward to being your on-screen daughter @AnilKapoor.”

In response, Anil had posted, “There was a time when you flatly refused to work with me & now look where we are!
