Actor Dulquer Salmaan has kick-started the promotions for his debut Bollywood film, Karwan, which also features Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar. The actor, who's one of the popular names in the Malayalam film industry, is also a critics' favourite.
His second film, Ustad Hotel was honoured with the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. His another film, OK Kanmani, was remade in Hindi with OK Jaanu, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur. The movie wasn't received well at the Box Office and Dulquer has a reason for it.

In his interview with a leading daily recently, he revealed, "It was a good attempt but the concept of living-in was newer in the South as compared to Mumbai". He also talked about Karwan and mentioned how he, like everyone else, was shocked to know about Irrfan being diagnosed with a rare disease earlier this year. Talking about his experience of working with the actor, he said, "I’m a huge fan and he was amazing to work with. Whenever I’ve collaborated with seniors, including Mani sir (director Mani Ratnam), I’ve noticed that they are always on the lookout for the next magical script. Ditto Irrfan sir. He was curious about Malayalam cinema and filmmakers down South."
Dulquer's next post Karwan in Bollywood has him paired with actress Sonam Kapoor. The two are working on The Zoya Factor, which has him playing the role of a cricketer. Dulquer revealed that it's plain out of his love for good stories that he decided to work on the Abhishek Sharma directorial. He said, "The script’s amazing. Sonam and I have a few common friends and have met briefly, though I’m not sure if she remembers that. But she’s great fun and I really like the work that she is doing. Stardom is not the focus, good cinema is. By the end of my career, I want to have a portfolio of good and interesting films".
Karwan, produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Akarsh Khurana, is slated for release on August 3.
