Jacqueline Fernandez is probably the sunniest person in all of B-town. She loves actors, is good friends with them, can relate to them and empathise with them. But one thing she will not do is date them! As she tells it, “There is too much going on in an actor’s life. It’s preoccupying and you have to be someone who can take a lot. I don’t want that stress in my life. Actors need supportive people around them. As for me, I’m independent and do my own thing. So I need someone who can complement that.”

She is very sure that she does not need someone to “complete” her. She finds it irksome when people ask her why she isn’t getting married, or why she isn’t dating someone. Instead she counter- questions, “Why has marriage become such a necessity? It’s so unfair! You’re your own person, why is it always about a man?” She cannot find resonance with the whole thought of a man needing to come into your life, that you should be dating someone and you should get married. “If it happens it happens, if it doesn’t it doesn’t,” she shrugs. In her belief, people shouldn’t make an issue out of it.

Personally speaking, she doesn’t see how it would make a difference to her life. However she feels there is too much pressure on girls. “They feel terrible about it when they shouldn’t,” she rightly points out.

Earlier this year she had been linked with Sidharth Malhotra, her co-star in A Gentleman. She had demolished the rumours at that time, declaring, “If I'm dating someone, I don't need to hide it from anyone. I'm not a 12-year-old who has to hide her relationships. I'm a grown-up girl. If I was dating someone it wouldn't be a big deal for me anymore. I would honestly admit to it.” We get the feeling she would!
