Director Luv Ranjan, who has managed to rope in Ranbir Kapoor and Ajay Devgn for his next directorial venture has his sights set on another prized catch. Ranjan wants Alia Bhatt to star in the film too and naturally, Ranbir who is currently romantically involved with the Raazi actress wants her onboard too. The two actors are already working on Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra alongside Amitabh Bachchan.

Reportedly, Shraddha Kapoor who is busy shooting for Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu was also keen on being cast in the film. However, she did not make the cut and now the role has been offered to Alia. A leading daily reported, “Most film scripts are written with certain stars in mind. Having said that, directors also have a vision of who they want to cast in a specific role. Today, Alia is a big star. If you want to cast her, you need to sign her around the same time as the male stars. If the role is not that important, it is highly unlikely that Alia will sign on the dotted line, even if it means losing out on quality time with beau Ranbir.”

Alia has become one of the hottest selling female leads in the industry with most of her films becoming blockbusters at the box office and she delivering a kickass performance. Her latest offering Raazi, which was a female-centric film has garnered more than Rs 100 crore at the box office. She has become as big a star as her male counterparts and going by her popularity she will soon start claiming almost the same amount of pay and clout as Deepika, Priyanka and the male stars.

The two lovebirds first made their official appearance together at Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding reception. Alia is also said to be taking time off work to fly to Paris to spend time with Ranbir’s family from July 6 to 9 for his mother Neetu Kapoor’s 60h birthday.
