Saif Ali Khan has always been ahead of his time in his thinking. He was perhaps the first leading actor in Bollywood to embrace the web-series medium. And he has made a most interesting choice… Sacred Games, based on the gritty novel by Vikram Chandra and directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikas Bahl no less, already looks most gripping going by its teaser. He has apparently enjoyed the experience so much he is looking forward to doing a web-series every year.
The suave actor shares that he veered towards this relatively new medium because of its "phenomenal reach". He points out, “I watch a lot of Netflix shows. It is premium stuff with great production values, and its reach is phenomenal. With more and more people having access to the Internet, one can well imagine how many people can watch shows on the digital platform. This could be the biggest thing ever, this could be just the beginning.”

His excitement is palpable, as he prepares for the release of this thriller which uncovers the dark underbelly of Mumbai where politics, crime and passion meet at the crossroads. This eight-episode series sees Saif play Sartaj Singh, a seasoned, cynical police officer. He and Anjali Mathur (Radhika Apte), an intelligence officer, journey to the centre of a mysterious web woven by the powerful criminal overlord, Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). The plot twists and turns along the dark alleys of Mumbai, with Ganesh and Sartaj tightening their grip on each other and staking everything on victory, including the city itself.
Saif is back in the city to promote Sacred Games and will return to Kareena and Taimur, who are in London. He explains, “I prefer it this way — I would like to be in Mumbai when I am working, otherwise, I'm happy to be on a holiday.”
He doesn’t mind the promotional activities in the least – as long as the questions are about work. Saif is clearly getting a tad irked by the constant questions about his adorable tot, Taimur. “I end up being asked more about Bebo and Taimur. I have no energy for such questions. I know a lot is written about Taimur. I too enjoy it sometimes, but I do not like making gods out of children,” he maintains. Now that is perfectly put, Nawab!
