At the recent Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 event, Sanjay Dutt was promoting his upcoming thriller directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. He spoke about his character – he plays the gangster – who is emotional by nature. “He will go to great lengths to achieve his desires,” the actor shared about his character.
Of course, with the much-awaited Sanju having released yesterday, talk naturally had to veer towards his biopic which is on a winning streak at the box office, garnering applause and collections by the truck-load.

Asked specifically about Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in the film, Dutt averred, “Ranbir is extraordinary in the film. The film is fantastic and Rajkumar Hirani, Vicky Kaushal, everybody has done a fantastic job. And whatever is the truth has been portrayed on the screen.”
The last part of his sentence elicited a few chuckles from the media gathered at the event. Any criticism the film is facing has been over its attempt to gloss over the unsavoury aspects of Dutt’s life and show him in too fine a light. With convenient half-truths, the blame for Dutt’s misdemeanours has been pinned on external elements such as the police and the media.
At the Saheb… the event, this question also came up, as one journo pointed out that there is considerable media bashing in Sanju, wherein the press has been blamed for tarnishing Sanjay Dutt’s image. Just as the man himself was preparing to answer, a member of the Saheb… team interrupted to request that all questions from the media be related only to his upcoming film, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster.
A sheepish smile and a small shrug of the shoulders, and Dutt kept his mic down. Saved by the announcement? It certainly looked like! However, the gathered media still chuckled aloud at his expression. Apparently, they love him nevertheless!
