Sanju box office Day 2: Ranbir Kapoor's film inches closer to the Rs 100 crore mark, mints Rs 73.35 cr

Several sections have touted Sanju as Rajkumar Hirani's goodwill gesture towards his close friend Sanjay Dutt, as he possibly could have left pieces of his life story on the edit table. But none of these views have leveraged the biopic's business for the human drama is enjoying a remarkable run at the box office. Going by the collections, Sanju is making all the right noises.

Having surpassed the opening day collections and record held by Salman Khan-starrer Race 3, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer amassed Rs 34.75 crore on its day of release. While the Remo D'souza directorial coincided with an Eid holiday, Sanju, despite lacking the benefit of a public off, has delivered a thundering response. The biographical cinema raked in an excellent second day of more than Rs 38 crore which took its two day total to Rs 73.35 crore compared to Race 3's Rs 63.75. Dethroning Tiger Zinda Hai, Sanju has become the first non-holiday release after Baahubali to garner such collections.
