Sonali Bendre diagnosed with high grade cancer, undergoing treatment in New York

Actress Sonali Bendre who left the television reality show India’s Best Dramebaaz after the telecast of its first episode due to unforeseen personal reasons has been diagnosed with high-grade cancer. Besides, Sonali, the show has director Omung Kumar and actor Vivek Oberoi as the other two judges. Her position as a judge has been taken up by Huma Qureshi now. Sonali, today released a statement stating that she has been diagnosed with the illness and is undergoing treatment in New York City.

She took to Twitter to release a statement that read, “Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with high-grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them.”

She further added, “There is no better way to tackle this than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful. I’m taking this battle head-on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me.”

PeepingMoon spoke to India’s Best Dramebaaz co-judge Omung about Sonali’s illness and asked whether they were aware of the grievous news. He said, “We were aware she was unwell and had left for New York to seek in a second opinion/treatment for her ailment. However, the news of her being diagnosed with Cancer came as a shock. I got to know about it from her social media itself, like everyone else."

"Everyone on the sets of her reality show was aware that she is not keeping well and will be flying abroad to get a health checkup. But the sudden news of Sonali's cancer was not what we were expecting," shared a source with PeepingMoon.com

Here’s hoping that Sonali makes a full recovery at the earliest and will be back with renewed vigour and health.
