Priyanka Chopra to take a fat paycheck home for 'Bharat' opposite Salman Khan

Nothing that Priyanka Chopra does is insignificant. The actress ensures that she breaks stereotypes and ground rules in most of her endeavors. Apart from taking the world by storm with her rumoured boyfriend American singer-actor, Nick Jonas, Priyanka is all set to make her comeback to Bollywood opposite Salman Khan. She has signed Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat and is reportedly getting paid a whopping Rs 6.5 crore!

The film directed by Zafar is a period drama and stars Sunil Grover, Tabu and Disha Patani besides, Salman and Priyanka. As reported by a leading daily, Priyanka’s fees for Bharat has made her the third highest paid actress in Bollywood behind Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut.

Deepika has the top billing with her pay cheque of Rs 12 crore for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat. National Award winner and Queen actress Kangana Ranaut comes a close second with a fee of Rs 11 crore. Although she did slash her fee for Hansal Mehta’s film Simran and Vishal Bharadwaj’s Rangoon.

Bharat is a period drama that is the official remake of the 2014 South Korean film Ode to My Father. Priyanka makes a comeback of sorts with the film as her last film Jai Gangaajal was released way back in 2016. She has been making a name for herself in Hollywood with Quantico and films like Baywatch, a Kid Like Jake and Isn’t It Romantic?

Reportedly, the film will have Priyanka and Salman sport five different looks in the film, because the story travels through 53 long years and both the stars will be shown at different stages in their lives. The director reportedly told a daily, “Bharat’s story starts in 1947 and ends in 2010. It will show Salman and Priyanka’s characters age through the years. Like Salman, PC will also sport five different looks. She will age from 28 to 60 years, while he will age from 25 to 65 years in the film.”

Priyanka has worked with Zafar previously in Gunday which also starred Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, whereas she previously teamed up with Salman in films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Salaam-e-Ishq, and God Tussi Great Ho.
