Soorma releasing on July 13, 2018, will be the newest addition to the many sports biopics coming out in Bollywood. The film is based on the life story of the former captain of the Indian Hockey Team, Sandeep Singh. Sandeep was given the moniker of 'Flicker Singh' for his incredible drag speed of 145 km/hr. Portraying the titular role in the film is Diljit Dosanjh who bears an impressive resemblance to Sandeep.

Taapsee Pannu portrays his love interest in the film. Angad Bedi, who recently tied the knot with actress Neha Dhupia, also plays an important role in the film. The trailer of the film and it's title track, also known as the Soorma Anthem, which released earlier last month gives us an idea of the powerful story that director Shaad Ali is set to bring on the big screen.

To keep the movie real, even the casting of Sandeep's character is done very correctly, as the director feels Diljit bears a striking resemblance to Sandeep.

Iconic moments from Sandeep's hockey career have been incorporated in the biopic too.

Following a splendid performance in an international match, Sandeep was lifted to glory by his entire team and director Shaad has recreated the same moment in the film as well.

The film has been shot in Sandeep's hometown, Shahabad, to capture the real essence of his struggle. Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh, Soorma seems to be the one to break records and truly inspire many lives.
