Actor Diljit Dosanjh is busy promoting Soorma these days. He is playing the character of Indian hockey player, Sandeep Singh in the movie. As part of the film's promotion, the actor visited Sandeep's hometown, Shahabad the other day. And the highlight of his visit remained the gift he received from the athlete's father.
Diljit was gifted a hockey stick by Sandeep's father during his visit to Shahabad. It was just not any other stick but the one that belonged to Sandeep. According to the film's team, Singh was carrying the same stick when he was accidentally shot by a bullet and got paralyzed. In fact, it was so close to Sandeep that he even kept it with him all the time during his recuperating days when he was told he wouldn't be able to play hockey again.
Touched by the gesture, Diljit took to social media and posted:

Soorma, directed by Shaad Ali, is inspired by the real life story of Sandeep Singh and also features Angad Bedi and Taapsee Pannu in pivotal roles. It has been shot in Singh's hometown Shahabad to capture the real essence of his struggle and the journey to become the hockey legend.
The trailer of the film garnered appreciation from across the audience, majorly for focusing on a story of human spirit... about a player, who made headlines for his miraculous comeback after an unfortunate accident.
Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh, Soorma is slated to release on 13th July, 2018.
