It was in January this year that Taapsee Pannu was roped in to play the role of a sharpshooter in Womaniya. Pegged to be a two-heroine project, the makers shortlisted Kriti Sanon to play the other lead. Produced by Anurag Kashyap, the sports drama is said to be hemled by Tushar Hiranandani.
But now in a recent turn of events, we hear that Kriti has been replaced by Bhumi Pednekar and it will be her who will pair with Taapsee in the film.
A source informed a leading tabloid that Kriti's jam-packed schedule is the main reason for her not being able to do the film. "Kriti has her kitty full with Housefull 4, Panipat and Luka Chuppi. She was unable to shoot on the dates that the makers required. Hence, they are in talks with Bhumi."

Meanwhile, the prep for the project will begun only after Bhumi signs on the dotted line. "(Taapsee and Bhumi) need to work on their physique to look like octogenarians. The film was initially expected to roll in August, but has been pushed to October, giving them sufficient time to attain the physicality," added the source. Reportedly, the final cast of the film will be announced later this month.
For the unversed, Womaniya is inspired by the real-life success stories of several women professional shooters but will be largely based on octogenarian sharpshooters, Chandro and Prakashi. What’s more, since the story is told in flashback, Taapsee and Kriti will reportedly even be playing 60-year-old women in some portions of the film. We just cannot wait for the two ladies to hit the bull's eye in Womaniya.
