Karan Johar deconstructs a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai scene, shares trivia about Shah Rukh, Kajol and Rani

Karan Johar's directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which released in October 1998, is all set to complete 20 years in a few months. The film, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, in the lead, is undoubtedly one of everyone's favourite movies of the 90s. From the college love and basketball to the summer camp and SRK and Kajol's dance in the rain, it was the first brush with romance for every 90s kid.
Now with over two decades of the film's release, Karan has spilled some beans over a famous scene of the movie. In a segment by an online portal, KJo talks about a particular scene where Kajol (Anjali) ends up dressing over the top in an attempt to look like Rani (Tina) but instead is mocked by everyone.
Karan reveals that how everyone found the scene to be very funny, SRK being the fine actor that he is, had to go through many takes to shoot the scene perfectly. The reason being that Shah Rukh cannot simply laugh on screen and thus, they had to shoot the scene over and over again in order to get it right. And KJo quips that maybe SRK was just laughing and banging at the wall out of frustration.
Interestingly, he also revealed that how he had a lengthy discussion with his team on whether Rahul consoling Anjali but not leaving Tina’s hand, depicts him as the bad guy. However, he ends up laughing on how he was the only one who thought these to be first world problems while the others paid no heed to the technicalities.
Sharing more trivia, he added that he even had a difference with his close friend and designer Manish Malhotra for dressing both Rani and Kajol in shades of pink. BTW, did you notice that Manish and Farah Khan and in fact Karan's mother Hiroo Johar too, were all part of the scene. No, right?

On an embarrassing note, he concludes by saying how he's become wiser with each passing film. Well, not only him, but we are glad too but still Kuch Kuch Hota Hai will always be a charmer.
