The Rajkumar Hirani directorial, Sanju, based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, has already shattered several records at the box office within a week of its release. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, it has become one of the actor’s most successful films and Ranbir has received immense =cclaim for his nuanced portrayal of Sanjay on screen.
But apart from Ranbir, Paresh Rawal's acting as Sanjay's father Sunil Dutt in the film has been widely appreciated. While everyone loved Paresh portrayal of the late actor and parliamentarian, who brought strength to the entire family in tough times, it seems Sanjay's sister, Namrata Dutt did not connect with it.
Talking to an online portal, she said, “I can’t see anyone portraying my father. He was special. Not that I didn’t like him (Paresh). I didn’t connect, but I’m not the audience. I’m Sunil Dutt’s daughter.” She also commented on Manisha Koirala’s role of Nargis Dutt and added, “She was okay too. Being Sunil Dutt and Nargis’ daughter, it’s difficult to make judgments. If the audience connected with them, it’s great!”
She even revealed how the family missed the senior Dutt when Sanjay Dutt finally walked free after serving his jail term. Though she found it difficult to comment on the film as she feels that she's lived the tough times with her family, but she certainly liked Ranbir in the film and found him "entertaining."
Sanju has an ensemble cast and besides Ranbir stars Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles. The film, which released on June 29, has already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark within two weeks of its release and is smoothly cruising its way towards the Rs 300 crore club.
