Ajay Devgn has got his hands full of some interesting films now. He had announced Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, to be made under his own banner, last year. Now, there's a latest update in the same big budget film.
If the latest report published in a leading daily is anything to gone by, then actress Kajol will be seen opposite Ajay in Taanaji. The report suggests that the team was on a hunt for the film's leading daily and seems like Kajol fits the bill perfectly. She is very fluent in Marathi language, which is one of the most important prerequisites for major characters in this film.

The report quotes a source saying, "It’s likely that Kajol will play the female lead opposite Ajay in the movie. If she gives her nod, she will essay the role of Taanaji’s wife. Although, essentially it’s a war film, it also focuses on the relationship between the Maratha warrior and his wife. Kajol’s Marathi dialect is perfect and the role suits her. When she heard the part, she was excited about it".
If this happens, then the real-life couple will be coming together on screen after a hiatus of 10 long years. They were last seen together in U Me Aur Hum in the year 2008. However, both have been featured together as romantic leads in various popular films including Ishq (1997), Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha (1998) and Raju Chacha (2000).
Taanaji has been deemed as the most expensive film from Ajay's home production. It is said that the film is being made on the budget of around Rs 150 cr with heavy VFX and extremely appealing visualisation. While Ajay plays the titular character, the rest of the cast is yet to be announced. It goes on floors from September 25 this year.
With such huge preparations going on for Taanaji and Ajay's impressive lineup of films, seems like the coming year is going to see more of Ajay Devgn on screen. Apart from Taanaji, he has signed a romantic drama with director Luv Ranjan. Another film with the same director, also featuring Ranbir Kapoor, and an untitled project with Boney Kapoor are also in the pipeline. He has also confirmed a film on famous Indian scholar, Chanakya, with director Neeraj Pandey. His next is Total Dhamaal, which is slated to hit the screens on December 7 this year.
