I bet his count must be more: Sanjay Dutt on Ranbir Kapoor's less than 10 girlfriends comment

Sanjay Dutt’s biopic Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role has done phenomenal business at the box office. The film showcases Sanjay’s drug addiction to his numerous conquests in bed to his jail term for possessing illegal arms. The film relates Sanjay’s story in a Munnabhai sort of way where the audience is supposed to take every wrongdoing with a pinch of salt and believe that the protagonist is a victim of circumstances and not a perpetrator of insensitive choices in life that more often than not make other people suffer too.

It is well-known that Sanjay was a womanizer and had relationships with many women, often at the same time. In the film, Ranbir who plays Sanjay claims that he has slept with 308 women, all this while speaking in front of his third wife Maanyata Dutt (played by Dia Mirza). The scene has been criticized for glorifying Sanjay’s womanizer image and depicting women as conquests.

At the trailer launch when Ranbir was asked about the count of his girlfriends, RK revealed he had less than 10 affairs till date! “Well, my girlfriend count is less than ten," had quoted the actor. However, looks like Dutt was not fooled by Ranbir’s answer. Recently, Sanjay gave an interview to a leading news website where he was asked on his claim count. The actor responded and stated, “I just felt that the count must be 308. Now, I don't know their names and I don't know their... I haven't kept count that way. Even in the film, it's like that. He says, 'Maybe itna hoga.' It was quite a big score.” When asked about Ranbir's claim of having less than 10 girlfriends, Sanjay said, “I bet his count must be more than 10."

Sanju directed by Rajkumar Hirani is inching towards the Rs 300 crore mark at the box office. It has already become one of the most successful films ever and the biggest blockbuster of Ranbir’s career. The interest in Sanjay’s tumultuous life has always been there and now with the release of this biopic he is once again in the news.
