Rishi Kapoor enjoys a reputation for his witty and funny side, but often dominates headlines for his rude and cutting, when inebriated or not. The volatile veteran's no filter talks, and even tweets often land him into trouble, but son Ranbir Kapoor always saves the scene!
Rishi and Ranbir are made of two different molds - while the senior actor has a hot temperament, RK junior is extremely calm and polite in his ways. Exactly why he jokes that he spends half his time apologizing for his father's abrasive and curt words. Only recently, the Rishi, Ranbir along with mother Neetu Singh, sister Ridhima Kapoor Sahni and her little one Samara had stepped out for dinner when the Bobby star left a female fan crying after she asked Papa Kapoor for a selfie with his family. No brownie points for guessing who intervened and handled the situation!
Cut to IIFA 2018. Bollywood stars took off to the Thai capital, Bangkok, after a decade, for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards. The prestigious ceremony featured power-packed performances by celebrities including the evergreen Rekha -- who performed live on stage after 20 years. Naturally, the Umrao Jaan actress' live act had everybody excited, except Rishi perhaps.
In an incident narrated by a senior journalist in a leading magazine, the RK father-son duo arrived together on the IIFA red carpet. During an interaction with the media on their way to the awards show, Chintu ji was asked by a certain media reporter, "Aaj Rekhaji bade saalon baad naachne wali hai. Aap kya kahenge?” Son Ranbir jumped in again, as he stood behind his daddy not-so-cool at the coveted carpet, and with all humbleness answered questions after his fuming father refused to.
Uh oh! Guess it is better to go alone than have your father as an arm candy, Ranbir.
By the way, wife Neetu Singh once revealed that she checks Rishi's tweets before she pushes off to sleep in the night. No surprises there.
