The announcement of the sequel to the 2002 film Aankhen was made quite some time ago and the audience has been waiting for the film to roll. The film was much liked at the time of its release because of its novel and unique story. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen in the lead roles. It was a bank heist story where three blind men manage to rob a bank with the help of the bank’s former manager played by Bachchan.

Aankhen 2 cast will be spearheaded by Amitabh but the rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. It was rumored that Sushant Singh Rajput and Kartik Aaryan will feature in the film alongside Big B, but now news is coming in that Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will star in the film. The second installment will be directed by Anees Bazmee. The director did confirm the name of Amitabh but failed to give a confirmation on any other names.

A leading entertainment website quoted Bazmee as saying, “Rajtaru has the rights to the film so, yes, talks are on for a sequel. Amitji is there in the film but we haven’t spoken to anyone else right now. In the next one to two months, we will be able to figure out more about the film. As of now, I think Rajtaru is in a better position to talk about this.”

The first installment was directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and produced by Gaurang Doshi. The film was based on Shah’s Gujarati play Andhalo Pato (Blindman’s Buff). Gaurang had announced the sequel to the film but after getting involved in a legal battle the film’s rights were awarded to RajTaru Studios and now they are going ahead with full steam and are looking forward to rolling out the sequel at the earliest.
