Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor are looking forward to the release of their upcoming film Dhadak this weekend. This is the second screen outing for Ishaan while Janhvi is making her debut with the film. Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced under the banner of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions the film has already generated quite a buzz in the market. However, the new star kids on the block are not taking things lying down and are going all about the country promoting their film. In a recent interview, the two actors spoke about what were the difficulties they faced in portraying their characters on screen.
Janhvi and Ishaan revealed that the characters they play onscreen do not bear any resemblance to them in real life. Ishaan revealed that playing the character of Madhukar who is naïve and not at all ambitious and lives in his own fantasy world was challenging for him. The young actor said that there was no particular emotion that was difficult to portray but depicting the disposition of his character was a tad challenging.

Portraying Madhukar whose life takes a dramatic turn when he falls in love and trying to find his own feet in the world was hard and a revelation. However, interestingly Ishaan added, "Janhvi is like Madhukar in real life while I am more like Parthavi." Apparently, the two actors took cues from each other's personalities to essay their roles in the film. On the other hand, Janhvi said during the interview, “Parthavi (the name of her character) is very different than me in real life. She is a lot more assertive and strong-willed unlike me as I am very docile and shy."
Talking about the film Ishaan also said that Dhadak is not a frivolous love story and the tonality of the film changes dramatically in the second half. Dhadak releases on July 20, 2018.
