Bollywood Queen Kangana Ranaut is all set to breathe life into the story of Rani Laxmibai through Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. The epic biographical film is being directed by Krish and produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain & Nishant Pitti. Kangana plays the titular role in the film, which also stars Sonu Sood and Ankita Lokhande in pivotal roles.
Clearing the clouds over the film's release, producer Kamal Jain, on Wednesday, announced that the first teaser of the magnum opus will be officially launched on August 15, 2018 - Independence Day, reports a leading news channel. The report further states that Kangana had a meeting with Jain, and soon after the meeting, the overwhelmed actress asked her producer to break the news.
"The grandeur of the movie will surprise people and the action sequences of the film are quite amazing," Jain told the channel.
There was quite a buzz about the release date the film with some reports saying it was set to hit theatre screens in April this year but in May, Kangana confirmed that period drama has been pushed further. On the delay in its release, Kangana had said, "If you see, we started shooting of Manikarnika... in the month of May last year and now it's been only one year since we started shooting.
"We launched the film in Varanasi on May 5 and we started shooting for it in June-July last year. I think when you make a film on huge scale, then it normally takes one or one and half year but I can say that this year we will be able to release the film."
Besides the much impending release, the film was also in the news following allegations by Brahmin outfit Sarva Brahman Mahasabha that it distorts historical facts. The outfit had demanded that the makers share complete details of the film's story to rule out any tampering with facts. However, in an assurance, the makers released a statement quashing all such reports.
An official announcement on the release date is still pending from the makers' end.
