Sonali Bendre took everyone by surprise when she revealed on July 4 that she has been diagnosed with high-grade cancer and is undergoing treatment in New York. Prayers and wishes started pouring in for the actress from her fans and friends in the Bollywood fraternity. However, the actress has been fighting the dreaded disease with a big smile on her face and her family standing strong behind her. After sharing a heart-wrenching video where she is seen cutting her long tresses, the actress has once again brought tears to our eyes. She has shared a new post on Instagram with her son Ranveer and stating how the family has “switched on the sunshine” and how her 12-year-old son has become her “source of strength”.
Sonali writes, “From the moment he was born 12 years, 11 months and 8 days ago, my amazing @rockbehl took ownership of my heart. From then on, his happiness and well-being have been the centre of anything @goldiebehl and I ever did. And so, when the Big C reared its ugly head, our biggest dilemma was what and how we were going to tell him.”
Sonali has once again proved that the woman is a braveheart. When generally the majority of people would like to shield their children from harsh realities, she has come out to reveal that her young son is well aware of her predicament.

Sonali wrote in her post that she is spending time with her son in New York now. She writes, “I’m spending time with Ranveer right now, while he’s on summer vacation. His madness and shenanigans help me #SwitchOnTheSunshine. And today, we derive strength from each other #OneDayAtATime.” She had earlier shared a video of getting her hair cut probably in the anticipation that chemotherapy makes one lose hair. In the video we see her husband Goldie Behl standing strong for her but trying hard to appear resolute.

We often try to protect our children from the realities of life - death, heartbreak, betrayal, disease and various other things in the name of keeping them shielded from harm and protecting their tender hearts. However, we forget that truth might be difficult to accept in the beginning but is far better than a lie and more often than not children often become our pillar of strength, as we see in the case of Sonali. Also, it's our duty to prepare our children for the future no matter how uncertain it might be. Sonali, who has written a book on parenting, is even now giving us parenting goals when she is fighting for her life. Thou art a brave woman, Sonali!
