Director Shonali Bose of Margarita with a Straw fame made news when she managed to rope in Priyanka Chopra for her next film. It was later announced that Farhan Akhtar will be joining the actress along with Zaira Wasim of Dangal fame. The film is an adaptation of the novel My Little Epiphanies by Aisha Chaudhary and is titled The Sky is Pink. Now, after a long wait, the film will finally go on floors next month.
When the news of this film was announced, PeeCee had taken a break from Bollywood as she was busy with her American television show Quantico and other Hollywood projects including A Kid like Jake and Isn’t It Romantic, which she wrapped earlier last week. The Sky Is Pink will mark Priyanka’s comeback to Bollywood after two long years, along with Salman Khan's Bharat. She was last seen in 2016’s Jai Gangajal directed by Prakash Jha.

Bose’s film is based on real-life story of the Delhi based writer Aisha Chaudhary. She was born with Severe Combined Immune Deficiency and had to undergo a bone marrow transplant when she was just six months old. At the age of 18, in 2014, her disease progressed making her lungs weaker by the day. During the last few days of the year, she became bed-ridden and found her escape in writing, that’s how My Little Epiphanies take shape. In 2015, however, she passed away.
Bose’s film will have Zaira get into the skin of Aisha, who herself has faced depression. Priyanka and Farhan will be playing Aisha’s parents. The preparations and reading have been in process. On August 8, the primary filming will begin in Mumbai. It is being jointly produced by Sidharth Roy Kapoor’s Roy Kapoor Films and Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Films. Juhi Chaturvedi of Piku and October fame is the writer for this film and its music will be composed by Pritam.
