Look what working with a Bollywood superstar can do to a relative newbie who is technically only two films old. In Disha Patani’s case, starting work with Salman Khan in Bharat, the most anticipated film of 2019, has given her the courage to want to play a superhero next. Wonder Woman, perhaps. Or maybe the female versions of the Hulk or somebody out of The Avengers.
Though Bollywood’s global icon Priyanka Chopra is in the lead, Disha plays a pivotal role in Bharat which is being directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. There is much excitement about the characters sporting several looks in the film which spans a long period of time. So far, the attention has only been on how Salman will age in Bharat. There has been no curiosity over Priyanka and Deepika.

Disha knows she is lucky to get this role because her Bollywood filmography includes only M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and Baaghi 2. But the young actress refuses to accept it’s just the luck factor. “I believe everything goes hand in hand, if you work hard, only then will your luck chip in,” Disha says. Fair enough. Both her films have been successful.
There’s no need for Disha to think of downfall. Yet her philosophy is that you need someone special to help you go through downfall and come out a positive person because “it’s not as if only happy things happen in your career all the time”. Bizarre.
The first day’s shoot of Bharat was between Salman and Disha and was set in a circus of the late 1960s. She plays a trapeze artist which she finds challenging because, she says, neither is she a circus artiste nor a gymnast and she pursued neither of these activities as a child. She’s learning on the job. But then, neither was Salman a tiger, policeman, bodyguard or wrestler before he accepted Tiger Zinda Hai, Dabangg, Bodyguard and Sultan. And if he could adapt...
