This Independence Day, get ready for a strong dose of historical and patriotic fervour with Gold film and Manikarnika teaser!

Akshay Kumar starrer Gold and Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi are all set to delight us in theatres on August 15, 2018. Gold, which releases on the 71st Independence Day, will have the theatrical teaser of Manikarnika attached to it.

Gold is directed by Reema Kagti and also features Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal in important roles. The film is the story of India winning its first Gold medal as an independent nation against the British rule. While the film captures the essence and struggle of the first win, it also fictionalizes this journey in bits.

On the other hand, Bollywood’s homegrown Queen Kangana is all set to bring her bravery and royalty on the big screen as the Queen of Jhansi with Manikarnika. As the name suggests, the film is a biopic on the historic Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi, directed by Krish and starring Sonu Sood and television star Ankita Lokhande. As reported previously, the film is slated to release on January 25, 2019. The makers of Manikarnika believe that it’s better to release the film around the Republic Day as Rani Laxmibai led the First war for Indian Independence in 1857 along with Tantya Tope and Bahadur Shah Zafar II around the same time.

Interestingly, no official posters for Kangana’s epic flick have been launched yet. Only a few stills from the sets have made rounds on the internet, taking everyone by surprise.

For the unversed, while Gold will lock horns with John Abraham's Satyamev Jayate on box office, Kangana's Manikarnika will clash with "silly ex" Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 on January 26, 2019.
