Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma are going to kick-start the promotions for their upcoming, Sui Dhaaga: Made In India. But, it's not the conventional kind of film promotion that includes dancing in the malls or talking to the press in the metropolitan cities in the country. But, it's more bounded to the theme of the film and rather celebrates Indian craftsmanship.
A leading daily has learnt that both Anushka and Varun will be touring 10 Indian cities, interacting with the artisans there to promote the local craft. Producer of the film, YRF's Maneesh Sharma confirmed the news revealing that the stars will be visiting Ahmedabad, Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Indore among other cities.
Sharma said, "During their visits, Anushka and Varun will promote the local craftsmanship of that particular city. They will be interacting with local artists and will visit their workshops to gain a better understanding of their process. They want to put the focus on the local industries that need attention and preservation in this digital era"
He added, "Varun and Anushka will also visit colleges and design schools, to take the message of the film to students, who are essentially the future of the country".
Directed by Sharat Katariya, Sui Dhaaga... is believed to be made as part of Indian government's Made In India campaign. One of the goals of the campaign is to promote the country's indigenous textile industries.
In the film, while Varun plays the character of Mauji, a tailor, Anushka plays the role of Mamta, who's an embroider. The film is slated for release on September 28.
