Karan Johar's epic drama, Kalank is certainly one of the most anticipated films of 2019. The film, which went on floors in April, boasts of an astounding star-cast which includes Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur.
The updates from the film's sets have been piquing the interests of the audience for quite some time. But now, in a rather unfortunate event, the shoot of the film came to an abrupt halt after a part of the film's set gave way due to heavy rains in Mumbai. As per a report in a leading daily, the film's set was erected at Chitrakoot Grounds in Andheri and the team had also shot at the location. Considering the incessant rains and damage to the set, the film's shoot has been stalled for now.
A source revealed to the daily, “The team was to shoot a 20-day schedule starting July 31. Now, the shoot is postponed for at least two weeks as dates for all the cast members who have scenes together had to be reworked. The makers have decided to wait for the rains to let up before resuming shoot.”
The report further added that the work on rebuilding the set, which is designed by Amrita Mahal, is expected to begin soon. While Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit and Varun Dhawan began shooting for the film in April, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt joined the sets in June. The team is expected to wrap Kalank by the end of November this year.
Set against the backdrop of partition of India, Kalank marks the first collaboration between three big production houses Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Fox Star Studios. Directed by Abhishek Varman, it is slated for release on April 18, 2019.
