Aamir Khan to produce Gulshan Kumar biopic with T-Series; to go on floors in early 2019

It has been a passion project for late Gulshan Kumar's son, Bhushan Kumar, to make the film on the life of his father and T-Series’ founder, who was murdered in broad daylight. However, ever since the biopic on the music baron was announced, it hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons.

Rumours were rife that Akshay Kumar was roped in to play the lead role. But there was no development on the subject later. Apparently, then the project was passed on to Aamir Khan, who rather came on board as joint producer and not as the lead actor.

With so much buzz around Mogul, the makers today locked in the film's release date and announced Aamir's involvement in the project as the joint producer. “Aamir Khan Productions and T Series are happy to announce Christmas 2019 as the release date for the biopic on Gulshan Kumar, written and directed by Subhash Kapoor. Filming to begin early next year," read the official press release.

Subhash Kapoor is known for his films like Jolly LLB AND Jolly LLB 2.

Meanwhile, in a recent conversation with Bhushan Kumar, the T-series honcho revealed to us that he does not want the film to focus on just 'certain' aspects of his father's life. Instead, he wishes to make a film on how Gulshan Kumar built a vast music empire, which led to T-Series emerging as one of the top music labels in India. Moreover, the film will also feature the best of the label's songs over the years.

Mogul will trace late Gulshan Kumar's inspiring journey from a fruit juice vendor to the owner of one of the biggest music labels in the country. It is a classic underdog story which will be unveiled on Christmas 2019's eve. The lead cast of the film is yet to be announced but it would be certainly interesting to watch if Mr. Perfectionist himself takes on the role!
