Stop the press! Here’s perhaps the most plausible reason why Priyanka Chopra walked out of Salman Khan’s film Bharat. The actress is reported to be unhappy with the way director Ali Abbas Zafar has been adding to the star cast and thereby minimizing her own screen time in the film.

According to sources, Priyanka was supposed to be playing Salman’s wife in Bharat which is said to be an official adaptation of the South Korean drama Ode to My Father. It’s not confirmed, but on her recent trip to India, Priyanka is also believed to have done two days of shooting in Mumbai for Bharat.

Now comes the twist in the tale. When she was given a narration of the film earlier in the year, Priyanka was reportedly assured that she was there virtually from the first frame to the last in Bharat. The role excited the actress who is now a global icon enough to consider Zafar’s film as her Bollywood homecoming.

In the film, Priyanka and Salman were a couple who fall in love, get married, and grow old together and their story is told in flashbacks. She liked the idea. But after she returned to her commitments in the US, Priyanka kept hearing that Zafar was adding more and more actors to the cast.

First on board was Disha Patani. Then came Tabu and after her Nora Fatehi. It is said all have special roles created for them expressly at Salman’s orders. And soon Priyanka got the fear that she would be facing the same fate that Jacqueline Fernandez did in Race 3 with Daisy Shah, Bobby Deol, Saqib Salim and Freddy Daruwala joining the cast. The fear of being sidelined.

Priyanka also heard that with this additional cast, her own role was being muscled into and she was left with less than 35 minutes’ screen time in the film. That’s when she took a tough and swift Alex Parrish kind of decision from Quantico and walked out of Bharat. Hollywood portals say that Priyanka is engaged to American musician Nick Jonas and there is the possibility that their marriage could be the reason why she walked out of Bharat. Not true.
