I would be a fool to make a biopic on myself, says Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar is all set to make the country proud again with his next film, Gold.  At a media interaction today he spilled the beans on a few interesting topics and one of them being the era of Biopics in Bollywood. He casually remarked the new wave by saying Bollywood is well-known for its herd mentality and since a few biopics have worked well on the box office, filmmakers are trying to milk the winning formula until it dries up and people get bored.

Eventually, he was asked if a biopic on him will ever be on cards. Without a moment of thought, the actor was quick to answer, "I will never make a biopic on myself, I will not even write a book about myself. There are so many amazing stories, and so many amazing people like Tapan Das, Arunachalam Muruganantham who have turned India in their own way towards a positive direction, their stories need to be told."

He further added, “I would be a fool to make a biopic on myself because I want to make biopics on real heroes, not reel heroes. It will be a very shallow thing to do.” Even when he was prodded further on showcasing his initial struggle in Bollywood and his martial arts training, the actor refused to budge from his viewpoint.

With his son Aarav, already being a popular name in the Bollywood world, he was further questioned "if" ever his biopic takes form, what would be the chances of his heir getting into his skin for it. Yet again, a plain blunt "No, never" was the superstar's answer. Well, it seems we will miss out on one interesting biopic for sure.

Akshay's Gold is the story of Indian hockey team’s first Olympic gold medal triumph as a free nation. Directed by Reema Kagti, it features Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Singh in pivotal roles. Produced by Excel Entertainment, it releases on August 15.
