Eager to cast a '40 plus A-list actor', filmmaker Rahul Dholakia has started the work on her next, which is about a firefighter and his stories of motivation. The director, whose last on-screen outing remains Raees, is looking forward to once again collaborate with Excel Entertainment's Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for the film.
As learnt by a leading daily, Dholakia has been working on the script of the yet-to-be-titled film for over one-and-a-half years now. He, then, narrated a tentative script to both Farhan and Ritesh who suggested him a few changes and readily got on board to tell the story.
Talking to the daily, the national-award-winning director shelved some details about the project. He said, "A series of fires in the city pf late makes me believe that it’s time for a film that celebrates these unsung heroes. For me, the firefighters are on par with cops and soldiers, but their heroics have gone largely unacknowledged even in a city of skyscrapers. They put their lives on the line every other day to put out and save us from fires which sometimes spark off from our own carelessness and violation of safety norms".
He added, "They are also called to pull a child out of a borewell, rescue a kitten from the roof, clear an uprooted tree from the road and help during a building collapse or a deluge. Even during the 26/11 attacks they played a significant role in the rescues but went unheralded".
Dholakia also revealed that national-award-winning dialogue writer, Vijay Maurya, has been asked to join the team and the film will go on floors early next year. The daily also reports that Dholakia wants to lock the script first before getting on to finalise the cast of the film.
He has, in fact, done a thorough research on the subject by talking to many firemen and also interacting with actor Randeep Hooda, who's the face of the Mumbai fire brigade and the brand ambassador of the fire services in the country. Dholakia has imagined the film as centred around a Mumbai-based fireman, Tukaram. He has imagined the project as grand and visually stunning with lot of drama and emotional content.
