Ranbir Kapoor’s father Rishi Kapoor is a veteran of many films and is still a sought-after actor. His last release film 102 Not Out garnered him immense praise and now he is all set for his upcoming release Mulk which is a courtroom drama also starring Taapsee Pannu. Rishi, has been showering praise on his son who has mighty impressed him with his portrayal of Sanjay Dutt in his biopic Sanju. When Rishi was asked during an interview that whether he would like a biopic made on his life, he responded instantly with a negative and said, “I don’t think that’s a good idea ... my life is zero and boring! Nobody should attempt at making a film on my life.”

However, Rishi is not averse to starring in a biopic made on someone else’s life where he gets to play the lead role. In fact, he revealed that he has been approached for a biopic. He told a leading daily, “Let me tell you that I have been approached for a biopic. And it’s very interesting that somebody wants me to agree at this stage of my career to do it. They want to make a biopic on Khushwant Singh with me in the lead.”

Khushwant Singh was a renowned author and columnist who had written several noteworthy books including Train To Pakistan, which was also made into a film in 1998. He was also a lawyer, diplomat, journalist and a Member of Parliament. He died in 2014. He was bestowed with the Padma Bhushan in 1974 but he returned the award in 1984 in protest against the Operation Blue Star in which the Indian Army raided the Golden Temple at Amritsar. In 2007, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award.

Apparently, Rishi was much intrigued by the idea of making a biopic on the late author’s life. He said that he was much interested in the biopic as many do not know about Singh’s earlier life, as he had a very daring and colourful life in his younger days. However, Rishi jokingly said, “They would have to take somebody else to portray his younger version. I can play the ‘fat’ Khushwant Singh, maybe with a little more of padding on my body.”

Even though Rishi gave his assent to the role he does not know whether the film is about to be made or not because he was asked about the role six months back.
