The sequel to Karan Johar’s Student of the Year that launched Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra in Bollywood was announced after a long wait. The sequel Student of the Year 2 was announced with Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday in the lead. However, there was a change this time as Karan passed thet baton to Punit Malhotra to helm the film. Ananya and Tara will be making their Bollywood debut with SOTY2, making it one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Student of the Year 2 was slated for November 23, 2018, release but today Karan took to Twitter to announce that the film has been pushed further, and will now release in the summer of 2019. He refrained from sharing the exact date of the film’s release in his first tweet, but later revealed that the film will release on May 10, 2019.

The shoot of Student of the Year 2’s first schedule has already been completed and the pictures shared from the sets of the film by the stars have piqued the audience’s interest in the film. According to reports, the original students namely Varun, Alia, and Sidharth will be seen in an exclusive song in the film which will be directed by Karan himself. Apparently, Karan is keen on directing the sequence featuring the three actors who made SOTY the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2012.

This move however makes sense as debutantes Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Kapoor starrer Dhadak is already ruling the box office, and Sara Ali Khan's debut is also slated for the year end with Kedarnath and Simmba. This will give enough room for the newbies to make an impact with their first film. And then, the common connect remains KJo, who is the man behind launching all these new faces!

A bang on 2019 featuring new faces is certainly to look forward...
