The film is said to be based on the clashes of Nathu La Military of 1967 which happened on the Sikkim Border. It is the story of Indian armed forces against the Chinese for infiltrating our borders. With this film, the filmmaker is making a comeback as a director after 12 long years. His last directorial was Umrao Jaan starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
Paltan comes as a launching pad for Sonakshi Sinha's sibling Luv and Television star Dipika Kakkar. Other than its leading men, Paltan has an ensemble cast including Esha Gupta, Sonal Chauhan, Monica Gill, Abhilash Chaudhary and Rohit Roy.
The film faced multiple issues with its star cast. Abhishek, who was previously roped in for the film walked out of it because he wanted a comeback film that would allow him to be the positive leading man. The actor then moved to Anurag Kashyap's Manmarziyaan with Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. While the release dates were clashing, Jr. Bachchan made sure the director of his debut film gets his space at the box office.
Paltan is produced by JP Films and Zee Studios and is slated to release on September 7, 2018.
