The 1991 hit film Sadak that featured Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the lead and was directed by Mahesh Bhatt is all set to get a sequel soon. The film is reportedly going to feature Alia Bhatt in the lead with Sanjay. As per PeepingMoon.com sources, Sadak 2 will be presented by Mahesh Bhatt and Vishesh Films and will be produced by Mukesh Bhatt. The sequel will release on Nov 15, 2019. More details about the star cast and director will be announced shortly.
We had earlier reported that Sadak 2 will not feature Pooja and the film will be entirely based on Dutt and Alia’s character. However, Pooja who has forayed into direction and production might assist her father and uncle in directing her kid-sister and her previous co-star.

Apparently, Pooja had convinced her co-star to drop in at the Vishesh Films office and together they convinced Mahesh to write a sequel to their original hit. Mahesh had revealed what happened at the narration, “Sanjay who was 32 when we made the original, comes back as a 54-year-old into the 21st-century world that is collapsing in front of his eyes, where the distinction between the house and the ‘sadak’ is fast disappearing. The story has the emotional connect of the films I made back in the ’90s. I could see that in the reaction of those present at the narration. They were visibly moved.”
However, what made Alia a part of the film and Pooja dropping out was not known. Previously Mahesh had said that they were looking out for a young male actor who was not a “chocolate-boy hero” and an actress with the “emotional resonance of Pooja and Alia Bhatt” but did not want to cast Alia in the lead. However, looks like the young actress who is riding high on her last release Raazi managed to change her family’s opinion and is now very much a part of Sadak 2.
