Arjun Reddy remake: Shahid Kapoor undergoes special prep, film to release on June 21, 2019

Shahid Kapoor’s next, Arjun Reddy, based on Vijay Deverakonda-starrer Telugu hit by the same name, was slated to kickstart in Mumbai this month. But now the makers have rescheduled the film, which will now go on floors on August 20. Well, the reason behind it is indeed interesting.

As per a report in a leading daily, the film is delayed in order to give time to Shahid to prep for his character. Apparently, the Arjun Reddy remake required the actor to have a full-grown beard and Shahid, known for his dedication towards work, was not comfortable on donning a fake beard. Thus the team decided to wait for Shahid to grow a real beard.

Meanwhile, as the film goes into production next month, the release date of the film is finally out. The official handle of T-Series revealed it to be June 21, 2019. The post read as, ".@shahidkapoor starrer #ArjunReddy directed by @imvangasandeep produced by #BhushanKumar, @muradkhetani, Krishan Kumar & @ashwinvarde will hit theatres on 21st June 2019. This @TSeries & @Cine1Studios film goes on floors in August."

For the unversed, the yet untitled remake of South hit Arjun Reddy is an unconventional love story of Arjun, an alcoholic surgeon. He hits a very rough patch after his college sweetheart, Preethi, marries someone else. Shahid will essay the male lead which had been played by Vijay Deverakonda in the original. The romantic saga presented in a modern way will appeal to masses across the nation.

Earlier speculations indicated that Shalini Pandey who played the leading lady opposite Vijay Devrakonda in the original might be retained in the remake as well. Reportedly, the makers have zeroed on Student of the Year 2 debutante Tara Sutaria opposite Sasha in the film, but the official confirmation about the same is awaited.

Arjun Reddy is produced by Murad Khetani and Ashwin Warde and was a blockbuster when released in South, last year August.
