Acclaimed actor Irrfan is well known and loved in both Bollywood and Hollywood. He has bounced between the two industries effectively working with such big names like Mira Nair, Ang Lee, Wes Anderson and others. However, earlier this year, the actor took everyone by surprise when he revealed that he has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor, a rare form of cancer. Prayers and get well soon wishes started pouring and now the Karwaan actor’s life has taken a dramatic turn. In an interview, the actor confessed how his life has become unpredictable now and he is enjoying the spontaneity of taking life as it comes.
During the course of the interview, Irrfan was asked how is his life now post the diagnosis of his illness, and if he is planning to return to work and reading scripts. The actor who has been undergoing treatment for his disease said, “No, I'm completely out of reading scripts. This has become a surreal experience. My days are unpredictable. I used to think my life would be like that, but I could never practice unpredictability and spontaneity. That has happened now. I don't plan. I go for breakfast and then I don't have a plan. I take things as they come.”

He further added, “I don't make plans. I'm just spontaneous. And I love this experience. There was something missing in my life. I was feeling a little manipulated by myself, by my own mind. There was a kind of disharmony in myself. It was bothering me. And I think this is what I was missing, this spontaneity. I know because we live in a world that is packed with plans, it sounds unrealistic. How could you live your life like that? But life is so mysterious and has so much to offer, we don't really try things. And I'm trying and I love it. I'm in a really fortunate state.”
Sometimes a grave circumstance gives us the opportunity to live life to our fullest and become spontaneous and freer and it seems Irrfan is taking his illness with utmost positivity and vibrancy which has brought a semblance to his life.
