Emraan Hashmi is currently working on his next, Cheat India. The shooting of the film has begun in Lucknow and the actor was spotted on the streets in the city while at work. He also got a web-series, Netflix's original, The Bard of Blood, produced by Shah Rukh Khan. Apart from all these, the actor has got another super entertaining project in his kitty.
Emraan is working on a film titled, Father's Day, in which he is all set to play the character of a real-life Indian detective, Suryakant Bhande Patil, who has solved over 120 child kidnapping cases in the country for free. The film is being directed by debutant Shantanu Baagchi who has earlier helmed a lot of popular ad films. The screenplay and the dialogues of the film are being written by Raid and Airlift fame, Ritesh Shah.
Emraan seems quite excited about the project. Director Shantanu calls it an important story of a selfless man and something that country would love to hear. He told a leading daily, "This is a great time for content-driven cinema. I had been meeting people in my search of an interesting story. This one will make for a thrilling and emotional film as it deals with the important subject of child safety which has been touched upon internationally in films like the Oscar-nominated 2013 thriller, Prisoners, but that was pure fiction. In Hindi cinema we have dealt with it perfunctorily. What makes it even more inspiring is that we are dealing with facts here".
The film is being produced by Emraan, Priya Gupta and Kalpana Udyawar. Talking about Emraan's reaction to the script, Priya mentioned to the daily, "Emraan loved the script and as soon as the narration ended, gave his nod to the film. You will see him cry and he will make you cry too".
Suryakant, one of the most popular Indian detectives, is a Pune-based civil engineer. He has been working closely with the Police not just in Pune but also in Mumbai for the cause. He even set-up his own detective agency called Spy Sanket in 1999.
