Another star kid is gearing up for his Bollywood debut and it’s none other than the late legendary actor Amrish Puri’s grandson Vardhan Puri. He is all set to start his Bollywood journey with a yet-untitled romantic thriller produced by Jayantilal Gada. The film is expected to go on floors in September and will be shot in North India. Vardhan had been an assistant director with Habib Faisal on Ishaqzaade and Daawat–e-Ishq and with Maneesh Sharma on Shuddh Desi Romance. Vardhan credits his grandfather for instilling the love of cinema in him and looks up to him as an actor.
Vardhan is a fan of Charlie Chaplin, Kishore Kumar, and Amrish but he looks up to his grandfather more than anybody. Talking about his grandfather the star kid told a leading daily, “Dadu is the God whom I pray to. I was so close to him that I would sleep between him and my grandmother. When he passed away, for me it was like losing the protective cover of an umbrella. It was then, that I decided that if I do something, it would be for my grandfather and this film is an ode to him.”

The young actor told a leading daily, “I was supposed to start off with a period-drama with Jayanti Bhai, but for some reason, that didn’t work out. He approached me later for this film which I loved and immediately gave my nod to. It’s a performance-oriented role and in terms of treatment it will be in a space similar to (Hollywood director David Fincher’s psychological thriller) Gone Girl.” The film’s director and the female lead will be locked soon and presently Vardhan is undergoing training for his role. The recce for the film is currently on in Delhi and Shimla.

Apparently, Vardhan has been an actor-in-training since he was five-years-old and has learned the craft under the watchful eye of his grandfather’s mentor National Award-winning actor-filmmaker-writer Satyadev Dubey. Vardhan is also not a novice in front of the camera as he has been a part of over 90 plays. The actor who is gearing up for his debut says that he has a strong inclination towards writing and direction too but his first love is acting and he wants to focus on that as of now.
Satyadev Dubey is not the only one Vardhan has trained under. He has also trained with acting gurus like Athar Nawaz, Neeraj Kabi, Vidur Chaturvedi, Mujeeb Khan and Faezeh Jalali. However, he maintains that his first teacher was his grandfather Amrish. Amrish is well-known for his iconic roles in films like Mr.India, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Damini, Ghayal, Ghatak, Muskurahat, Pardes etc.
