Anurag Basu’s Life In A Metro that released in 2007 not only received critical acclaim but also garnered good collections at the box office. The film had four different stories set in the city and each told a very poignant and important tale of human relationships. Now, eleven years later the director is back with a sequel to the film and is likely to produce it under his own banner.
It was highly anticipated whether Kangana Ranaut who starred in the first film will be appearing in the sequel or not. However, now a leading daily reported that Anurag has roped in Ki and Ka actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor for the film. The daily reported, “Kareena Kapoor Khan will reportedly feature in one of the stories and Arjun Kapoor will also be a part of one of the other plots. Their tracks are not connected is what we hear.”

Anurag was offered to direct Ajay Devgn in Boney Kapoor’s sports biopic on Syed Abdul Rahim but the Barfi director declined the offer as he chose to focus on his own production, which he wanted to write, direct and co-produce. Although not many details of Life in a Metro 2 is out yet, buzz is that music director Pritam might get on board for the sequel.
On the work front, Kareena who is basking in the success of her last release Veere Di Wedding has also signed Karan Johar’s magnum opus Takht that stars Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. She will also be reuniting with Akshay Kumar in the film Good News.
Meanwhile, Arjun has his plate full with many lucrative films. He has Rajkumar Gupta’s India’s Most Wanted, Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat opposite Kriti Sanon, Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Namastey England with Parineeti Chopra and Dibaker Banerjee’s Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar which also stars Parineeti.
