Sonakshi is a like a daughter and Rekha is a very old friend: Dharmendra on cameos in YPD3

Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol are once again teaming up in the third installment of their film franchise Yamla Pagla Deewana. The film is aptly titled Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se and is bigger, funnier and promises to be better than the previous two films. During the new trailer launch today, Dharmendra spoke about the cameo appearances of Rekha, Salman Khan, Shatrughan Sinha and Sonakshi Sinha in the film and attributed it to the fact that he and his family have good ties with almost everyone in the film industry.

The veteran actor enjoyed himself immensely during the trailer launch of Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se and answered almost each and every question succinctly and lovingly. Talking about the cameos done by actors in the film, Dharm ji said, “Mai kisi bhi waqt awaaz du kisi ko bhi film industry mai vo haazir hojaata hai. Ye hamaari family ke ache karmo ka fal hai (If I call anyone at any time from the film industry, that person always answers; this is the good relationship that my family has with everyone).”

Sonakshi appears in a special song for the film and is also seen in the medley Rafta Rafta shaking a leg with Rekha, Salman, and the Deols. Talking about his equation with the Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi actress and the diva Rekha, Dharmendra said, “Sonakshi is a like a daughter to me and Rekha is a very old friend.” Speaking about Salman, Dharmendra said, “Salman is a very good human being, even today he gets shy in front of me.”

Dharmendra, who has been a veteran of numerous films and one of the senior most actors still active in the industry, was never a recipient of many awards. He was never touted as a superstar the way Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan were seen. Talking about that, he said, “I was never a star, I am an actor. This superstar word is given by Rajesh Khanna. He knew how to be a star.” It is common knowledge that the frenzy Rajesh Khanna inspired in the hearts of his female fans no other actor could ever match up to it.

Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se is directed by Navaniat Singh and also stars Kriti Kharbanda, Satish Kaushik and Asrani in lead roles. The film releases on August 31 and if we go by the two trailers released it promises to be a fun ride.
