Today, Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan unveiled the trailer of their much-awaited film, Sui Dhaaga: Made In India and it speaks volumes of love, respect and ambition with a hint of humour. Apart from striking the right chord with the audience, the film is a tribute to Indian handlooms and craftsmanship.
The film features Mauji a.k.a Varun as the village boy with a lost ambition. He is married to Mamta a.k.a Anushka, a small-town girl wanting the best for her man. The role required Anushka to stay in a saree throughout the film. When asked about how she managed it, she replied, "Staying in a saree changes your walk. These were little changes I incorporated, like not sitting in an AC car in order to feel how it feels outside in real life."
On being further prodded about her rural look, she said, "Putting makeup or not, does not make you a good actor. A film like Judwaa needs it, not Sui Dhaaga. No big deal! I have always performed out of my comfort zone." She also added, "An actor can play any role. It is for the makers have to believe in them and have faith in them as a performer."
The questions came in accord to the fact Anushka has always played urban roles in films, in the character of Mamata is a complete contrast to her previous roles.
Moreover, the film's producer Maneesh Sharma was all praises for Anushka. Talking about her, he said, "She is a very honest and gifted artist. It will be a decade for her in the film industry this December from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi to Sui Dhaaga and since then nothing has changed."
Well, we could not agree more.
Last but not the least, Anushka is elated with the response that the film has been getting. "The response is overwhelming. The simple story celebrates love, self-reliance and much more," expressed the actress.
