Celebrity kids shouldn’t be hounded because their parents are stars: Kajol

Bollywood celebrities have a love-hate relationship with paparazzi. They love and depend on media and paparazzi for publicity as well as keeping up their celebrity status but when it comes to their children they dislike the constant hounding that follows them around. Star kids, like their parents, are mini-celebrities in their own right. People want to know about them and their lives and this becomes a little difficult for them to lead a ‘normal’ life. However, there are quite a few actors who employ the paparazzi and keep themselves in news through their toddlers and kids. Kajol is one star who bats for normalcy in her kids’ lives and wants paparazzi to keep a safe distance from her children.

The actress, who is a mother to Nysa and Yug, is gearing up for the release of her forthcoming film Helicopter Eela. In conversation with a leading daily, she shared, “We all want the best for our kids, which is a life without the pressure of dealing with the media at that age. They have other issues to deal with." Like her contemporaries, she is of the mind that it is a star and not his/her child that has chosen a life before the cameras.

Kajol further elaborated, “We, as celebrities, signed up for this profession. They are just born into it and shouldn't be hounded. Our children are too young to understand that the reason they have cameras around, is because their parents are stars.” She also added that along with her husband Ajay Devgn they have had a discussion on this culture and now as a family, they very well know how to react to these situations.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kajol’s film Helicopter Eela sees her playing a single mother. Talking about her role in the Pradeep Sarkar’s directorial venture, Kajol said that there is a thin line between her reel and real self in the film as she is similar to the character she plays in the film and hence working on it was an instinctive and intellectual choice. The film is slated for a September 7 release.
