Dekhte Dekhte: Shahid-Shraddha’s track from Batti Gul Meter Chalu is soulful and heart wrenching

After the quirky, peppy and zany track of Gold Tamba, the makers of Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s film Batti Gul Meter Chalu have come out with a diverse track titled Dekhte Dekhte. The song was originally a qawalli sung by renowned singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan titled Sochta Hoon Woh Kitne Masoom The. The Bollywood rendition has been recreated by Rochak Kohli and sung by Atif Aslam. Dekhte Dekhte is a serious song as compared to Gold Tamba and will find its way to everyone’s playlist soon.

Whenever Atif and Shahid have come together the track has gone on to become a chartbuster. After Bakhuda Tumhi Ho from Kismat Konnection and Main Rang Sharbaton Ka from Phata Poster Nikla Hero, this is their third collaboration and after listening to the track we’re sure that it is soon going to top the charts too. However, the soul of the song lies in the heart-wrenching lyrics recreated by Manoj Muntashir and the video of the song which shows Shraddha’s fun-loving and happy-go-lucky character transforming into a sad, brooding and forlorn individual who is trying to come to terms with her friend’s death in the film.

The video will resonate with many as it probably comes at the juncture where the main leads are coming to terms with the realization that their life will never be the same again after they lose a loved one. It will also provide a turning point in the story.

Director Shree Narayan Singh has done a superb job of depicting how Shraddha’s demeanor has changed after the life-altering experience, and how Shahid is having trouble to come to terms with his own grief and loss. Visually, too the song is appealing with breathtaking locales.

The film is releasing on September 21, 2018.
