Remakes and sequels are at the forefront in Bollywood right now. However, south remakes have been a tried-and-tested formula in Hindi films. Some of the most money-spinning films has been southern remakes. Now, the latest buzz is that Sushant Singh Rajput is the latest actor to jump on the bandwagon. A leading daily reported, “Sushant Singh Rajput has expressed a keen interest in a Malayalam film. He has set up his own production company and has already announced a few projects that will be made under his banner. One of them will be the Hindi remake of Bangalore Days.”
Bangalore Days released in 2014 and revolves around three cousins who lose touch after school but are reunited in Bangalore. The way they pick up the pieces of their relationships and how they support each other through highs-and-lows and ups-and-downs are what the film is all about. The original film starred Dulquer Salmaan and is a coming of age romantic drama written and directed by Anjali Menon.
The daily reported, “Sushant liked the film’s concept and how it imparts a message in a subtle way. He wants to play Nivin Pauly’s character (that of an engineer) because he connects with it.” The daily reported that Sushant is currently in discussions with producer Vivek Rangachari, who holds rights for the remake.
On the work front, Sushant has a number of lucrative projects in hand. Currently, he is shooting in Jamshedpur for Mukesh Chhabra’s directorial venture Kizie aur Manny which is the Hindi remake of The Fault In Our Stars. Debutante Sanjana Sanghi stars opposite Sushant in the film. He is also looking forward to the release of Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath opposite Sara Ali Khan.
