Television is home, I feel lost in Bollywood but not left out: Mouni Roy

Popular television actress Mouni Roy who made her Bollywood debut opposite Akshay Kumar in Reema Kagti’s Gold is delighted with the response her film is getting from the audience at the box office. She is also elated with the offers that are landing in her kitty. In an interview to a leading daily the actress opened up about her foray into Bollywood and said that she feels a tad lonely in the industry.

Mouni was asked whether she was made to feel like an outsider in the closely connected film industry, to which she replied, “I have been a part of this industry since nine and a half years. Naagin 1 and Naagin 2, in fact, all the shows that I have done be it Mahadev or Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - they all have been tremendous successes. I have danced at award functions, attended all of them. So, I never felt like I have been left out."

She further added, “But, having said that, it's my own inner struggle that I am slightly feeling which is the feeling of being lost is. Suddenly you have left your home. Television is like home. So, I have left my home and here it's a new set up, new people and I don't know many of them. So I am still finding my ground but except that everybody is so wonderful. I have never felt left out."

The actress has quite a few lucrative projects at hand. She will be next seen in Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Brahmastra which is directed by Ayan Mukerji. Mouni has signed Dinesh Vijan’s Made in China which sees her paired opposite Rajkummar Rao. And she will be seen opposite John Abraham in RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter. Mouni is currently prepping up for her role in Made in China in which she plays a Gujarati housewife and is taking Gujarati lessons to get her diction and dialect right.
