Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan are all set to appear together onscreen after a hiatus of eight years in Anurag Kashyap’s Gulab Jamun and fans simply cannot contain their excitement. However, in order to fit Gulab Jamun into her schedule, Aishwarya, it appears, had to let go off a film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, reports a leading website.

Sources told the website that her dates for Gulab Jamun were clashing with that of Bhansali’s project, and she opted for the former since she hasn’t worked with Abhishek for a pretty long period of time.

“Aishwarya had to choose between working with Bhansali and sharing screen space with her husband, as the dates for both films were clashing. And she chose the film with her husband. They haven’t worked together in eight years. And more importantly, both of them have fabulous roles in Gulab Jamun. They’re going to be playing characters they’ve never played before,” the source said.

The report also states that Aishwarya was discussing the project with Bhansali when Gulab Jamun was offered.

Aishwarya has worked with Bhansali in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Guzaarish. With Abhishek, meanwhile, Aishwarya co-starred in the films Kuch Naa Kaho, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Umrao Jaan, Dhoom 2, Guru and Raavan.

Aishwarya was last seen in Fanney Khan while Abhishek is gearing up for the release of Manmarziyaan, scheduled for release in September. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Manmarziyaan casts Abhishek onscreen after two years.
