After a gap of almost a year, Sunny Deol will be back on screen with Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, also starring his father Dharmendra and brother Bobby Deol. The actor is geared up to take the popular franchise ahead and is elated with the buzz that the film's promos have created among the audience.
But not to forget, the second installment of Yamla Pagla Deewana failed to impress the audience. When Sunny, who is currently busy promoting YPD Phir Se, was asked if he has taken any special precautions for the third film, he said, "How can we see that Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se will be a hit film. Maza hi usi ka hai ki pata nai kya hone wala hai (The excitement lies in not knowing what will happen) as we are on the edge. Suddenly after the film's release, we will get to know that if people are liking it or not."
He further added, "Kitni films hoti hai jinka kuch matlab nai hota but chal jati hai (There are so many films that don't make sense but still fare well at the box-office). Thus, it becomes very difficult to place it."
On being asked if box-office numbers bother him, Sunny quipped, "It doesn't bother me from the point that the business has to be Rs 100 crore. That shouldn't be the reason to work and in fact, it should be to make a good film. Earlier on, we have done cinema (off-late I have not done that), which did very well, probably 100s and 100s of crores put together at the box-office but still we had no idea. The beauty of doing a film, which I believe, is hoping that people like it."
Sunny also talked about how the yardstick to measure box-office business has become very "clinical". He added, "Nowadays, we know the trends and opening numbers. The scenario has become clinical and doesn't make sense to me. Now we do not know what reaches the audience and we end up doing everything eventually."
Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se is slated to release on August 31, 2018.
