Stree: When Rajkummar Rao played a nasty prank on set and scared the wits out of everybody

Considering the fact that Rajkummar Rao’s new film Stree is a horror-comedy, it shouldn’t be surprising to note that several pranks as such were played on set in order to scare the cast and crew. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree casts Shraddha Kapoor opposite Rajkummar and has been produced by Raj and DK. While narrating his experience of filming Stree during an interaction with us, Rajkummar elaborated on several incidents that might send a chill down your spine even at the first go.

But most of all, we were curious to understand whether the 34-year-old actor had spoofed anybody from the set with his shenanigans. And his answer was certainly what you are expecting. So, be scared. Be very, very scared.

Before we get there, we must also inform you with a noteworthy backstory, so as to build up a bit more of suspense. Rajkummar and the rest of the cast were provided with a note in which they were forbidden from following certain practices, per se, especially while filming at night. While girls were asked to refrain from keeping their hair open at night, everybody was advised to travel in groups.

“The note said you can’t wear perfumes, girls can’t keep their hair open and you can’t roam around alone, you have to be in groups and it’s a true story. Probably I had that picture in my phone and once I reached there, it was actually quite spooky, the place, you feel the energy in the space,” Rajkummar said.

Noted this, right? Now for the real deal. Hold your breath, folks, because what Rajkummar told us next is pretty much spooky.

“So, in the fort we were shooting in, we were trying to make some making material and I was just in a fun mood. I was doing something and camera man was recording. Then, Raj also came and we started doing something…let’s create something. Then, this one girl was also shooting. We asked her to do something - to go in the corner and open her hair and stand there (we were not supposed to open our hair, remember the note) and after we got done.  She started doing something-something. It went on for some 1-2 hours and I was the only one who knew that it was all prank but everyone on the sets were going bonkers thinking let’s pack up, let’s leave from there,” he added.

Well, well, Rajkummar. If this had been a secret so far, it’s out in the open now. Don’t blame us if they back to you soon. Aside: this incident is bloodcurdling enough and we’re sure that the entire cast and crew were scared out of their wits after it.

We hope you’re in full control of yourself after reading this. In order to divert your attention, let’s get back to Stree for now.

During his interview, Rajkummar also said that he enjoyed shooting for the film and added that he doesn’t really believe in “in physical forms of ghosts”.

Stree released on August 31 and has been received well by audiences and critics.
