Irrfan Khan gave everybody a jolt of unpleasant news when he shared that he has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor, a rare form of cancer, earlier this year. Since then he had been undergoing treatment in London and his colleagues and fans have been ardently praying for the actor’s health. But it looks like Irrfan is on his way to recovery and will get back to work soon.
As per a report in a leading daily, the actor has given his nod to play the titular role of Udham Singh in Shoojit Sircar’s next directorial. The film on the long-forgotten martyr was earlier put on hold after Irrfan's illness but since he is responding to the chemotherapy treatment well, he is keen to return to the silver screen.

A source close to the development informed the daily, "Irrfan will first start shooting for Shoojit’s film after which will give dates to other projects. He has really liked Shoojit’s script and is in regular touch with him. They are looking forward to reuniting after the successful Piku."
Talking about Irrfan's comeback, Shoojit said, "I think now the focus is that the entire film fraternity is waiting for him to come back and restart. Irrfan is one of our finest artists and I want him to come back fully recovered and relive all his dreams. Meanwhile, I am completely ready with my prep for the film."
Well, Shoojit has time and again expressed his desire to revive Udham Singh’s journey on screen and we are certain that Irrfan will completely justify the role.
Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor's last release was Karwaan, which also starred southern heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan and internet sensation Mithila Palkar. Irrfan also featured in the Hollywood film Puzzle that stars Kelly MacDonald.
